Heavy rains begin a day prior to forecasts harrowing the public, motorists had a tough time after a brief rain on Wednesday, that flooded roads.
Coimbatore: A brief 10-minute rain in certain pockets in Coimbatore, left the city roads flooded, causing distress to the motorists.
The Met Department in Chennai forecasted heavy rain for 6 districts on 27th and for 4 districts on the 28th. An ‘Orange Alert’ was issued for these districts. Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Karur, and Trichy districts will receive very heavy rains and thunderstorms on Thursday. Salem, Namakkal, Kallakurichi, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Karaikal districts will receive heavy rainfall.
However, the downpour began a day prior as per the forecast in Coimbatore. Collectorate, Gandhipuram, Sivananda Colony, Saibaba Colony, Ukkadam, Pothanur, Town Hall, Peelamedu, surroundings in Coimbatore Airport, Ramanathapuram and Singanallur witnessed a brief 10-minute rainfall that was enough to flood the roads.
Motorists had a harrowing time as waterlogged on the roads and disrupted traffic during the festival season.
