9 districts including Coimbatore forecasted for thunderstorms

The Chennai Meteorological Department Director stated that Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and a few other districts will receive moderate to heavy thunderstorms on the 26th due to atmospheric overlay


Coimbatore: The Chennai Meteorological Department director, Puviyarasan in his forecast stated that 9 districts including Coimbatore will receive heavy thunderstorms. Chennai will have a cloudy atmosphere for the next 48 hours.

In his statement, The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Department said that the atmospheric overlay cycle will cause thunderstorms in Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Madurai, Tenkasi, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Coimbatore, and Trichy districts on Tuesday. Also, Southern districts, districts along the Western Ghats, delta, and many areas in other southern districts will experience moderate thunderstorms.

Coastal districts, interior districts, and Pondicherry, few places in Karaikal will receive light to moderate rain. As far as Chennai is concerned, the city will be cloudy for the next 48 hours.

On the 27th regions in Nilgiris, Trichy, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, and Madurai districts will receive thunderstorms while, the Western Ghats, delta districts, and southern districts may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Coastal districts, interior districts, and a few places in Pondicherry and Karaikal areas may receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms.
