A total of 23.5 kg of ganja smuggled on the train was seized by the Railway Security Force and Railway Police. It has come to light that the unidentified persons who knew that the police were doing the rounds, to check, left the ganja in the train compartment and fled from there.
Coimbatore: The express train from Dhanbad in Jharkhand to Alappuzha via Coimbatore arrived at Coimbatore Junction at 9 am. Based on a tip-off received by the police, the Railway Security Force police boarded each compartment of the train and conducted a search. When they inspected the S4 coach they confiscated 16.5 kg of ganja smuggled in a bundle that was hidden under a box.
Similarly, the police led by Railway DSP Yasmin based on tip-off by Railway SP Ilango searched the compartment and found ganja being smuggled on the same train. At that time, the police confiscated 7 kg of ganja hidden in a bundle under the seat. A total of 23.5 kg of ganja smuggled on the train was seized by the Railway Security Force and Railway Police. It was revealed that the unidentified persons who got wind that a team of police is on their toes to do a search, reportedly left the ganja in the train compartment and fled from there. Following this, the police are investigating the movements of the suspects by examining the footages from CCTV camera in the railway premises.
