Kanagaraj was one of the suspects along with 10 others in the murder-cum-heist Kodanad estate case.
Coimbatore: Two men, kin of driver Kanagaraj were arrested on Monday in connection with the Kodanad murder-cum-heist case in Nilgiris district.
On April 24 in 2017, a murder-cum-heist was committed at the Kodanad tea estate in Kotagiri owned by the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa. The estate guard Om Bahadur was murdered and Kanagaraj, the former Chief Minister’s driver was a key suspect along with 10 others in connection to the case. Kanagaraj had absconded after being booked but was however reportedly killed in a road accident in the Attur region in Salem in 2017.
An investigation was being carried out by special police squads with regard to the death of Kanagaraj. In a major twist of events, the Nilgiris district police nabbed Kanagaraj's cousin Dhanapal (44) and Ramesh (34) on Monday with regard to the murder-cum-heist Kodanad case. They have been produced before the Court and lodged in the Gudalur jail.
