The unreserved coaches were not operational in trains due to the Covid-19 pandemic to avoid overcrowding and hence prior booking for train tickets was made mandatory. With a pressing demand from passengers for unreserved coaches, the Southern Railways management has decided now to run trains with unreserved coaches since Covid-19 cases had declined gradually.
Passengers can now travel without reservation on the Rameswaram- Trichy, Trichy- Rameswaram, Chennai-Jolarpet, Jolarpet- Chennai, Palakkad Town - Trichy, Trichy- Palakkad Town, Kannur-Coimbatore, Coimbatore-Kannur, Nagercoil-Kottayam, Kottayam-Nagercoil, Coimbatore-Mangaluru, Mangaluru- Coimbatore, Nagercoil-Coimbatore, Coimbatore- Nagercoil- Coimbatore- Nagercoil- Coimbatore, Trichy- Thiruvananthapuram- Trichy routes.
