Hindustan Makkal Seva Iyakkam petitioned carrying empty liquor bottles at the District Collectorate in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Hindustan Makkal Seva Iyakkam petitioned the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran with empty liquor bottles in hand, demanding the closure of TASMAC stores on Diwali day and not to impose restrictions on fireworks.

The petitioners urged the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin to order the closure of TASMAC stores on Diwali day and take steps to ensure that no restrictions are imposed on lighting fireworks. Their demand for closure of TASMAC stores was based on the fact that most men end up being inebriated even during Diwali since liquor shops remain open on Diwali, every year.

The security guards at the District Collectorate allowed the petitioners to carry the empty liquor bottles into the premises to file their petition.
