Coimbatore Corporations officials initiate precautionay measure of removing damaged trees to avoid casualties owing to heavy rains

Corporation officials have initiated action to cut down damaged branches and trees as a precautionary measure due to heavy rains in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: With the onset of heavy monsoon rains in Coimbatore this month, the Corporation administration is taking precautionary measures to identify and clear damaged branches and trees in the city. These trees reportedly will not be able to withstand strong winds and hence could be uprooted suddenly causing casualties in the area.

A Corporation official said, 'As a precautionary measure against the northeast monsoon, a survey of damaged trees has been carried out in the city. For this purpose, steps are being taken to cut down damaged branches and trees that cannot withstand strong winds.'
