The city police have stationed special squads to nab the mentally-ill woman who killed her grandson and attacked his twin sister and absconded in Coimbatore two days back.
Coimbatore: A mentally unstable woman attacked her twin grandchildren two days back, in which one of the infants was killed. The district police have stationed special squads to nab the woman who absconded after the incident.
Bhaskar, (31), is an architect and his wife Aishwarya, (24) is from Nagappa Colony, Kavundampalayam. The couple had three-month-old twins, a boy, and a girl. Aishwarya’s mother, Shanti, arrived from Madurai to take care of the infants.
Two days back, the infants who were looked after by Shanti were attacked be her, while the parents were away. The boy died and the girl is still undergoing treatment. Special squads are deployed to nab the woman. The Thudiyalur police have registered a case.
It is speculated that Shanti must have run away to Madurai, as her husband serves as a sub-inspector in the district.The special officers are carrying out an investigation in Madurai. The footage of Shanti leaving the house in a hurry was captured on surveillance cameras in the area. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused is under treatment for mental illness. However, the police state that it is Shanti who can clear the speculations.
Shanti’s escape has triggered doubts as to why the two children were left alone in the care of a mentally-ill person. The hospital where Shanti was treated for her issue and the medications she is prescribed are looked into. Generally, a mentally-ill person would not have the thought of escaping the place after a crime as heinous as murder.
A serious hunt is on to nab and arrest the woman involved in the murder.
