The Police had filed a petition to hand over the IAF officer sexual assault case investigation to the police department.
Coimbatore:The Coimbatore Mahila Court issued orders stating the city Police department shall investigate India Air Force officer sexual assault cases with the approval of air force.
A woman IAF officer lodged a sexual harassment case in September against Flight Lieutenant Amitesh. The Coimbatore All Women Police officers filed a case and the trial was underway at the Coimbatore Mahila Court. The court had issued orders of custody of the flight lieutenant to the Indian Air Force.
However, the police department filed a petition to Coimbatore District Chief Justice Nagaraj to hand over the case to them. The hearing was scheduled for 21st October and the judgment was to be given on 23rd.
The judge stated that the Coimbatore Police department investigate the accused lieutenant and issue charge sheet with the approval of the Air Force authorities.
