Under the new motor vehicle law of the Central Government, the imposition of fines ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 should be dropped. AITUC private motor workers' unions staged a protest before the Tirupur District Collector's Office demanding the provision of housing by the alternative board for homeless taxi drivers.
