Baskaran an engineer by profession is a native of Cheran Nagar, Coimbatore who is married to Aishwarya. The couple gave birth to a three month old twins; male and female.
Aishwarya's mother Savindri Baskaran visited home from Madurai to take care of her grandchildren for the last two months. Against the backdrop of this, the grandmother of the children killed the boy when the mother went to the shop last night, and brutally assaulted the girl and escaped from the scene of crime. Thudiyalur police are on the lookout for the woman who killed her grandson and escaped.
According to reports, the grandmother who killed one infant and left another injured is believed to be mentally instable for the last fifteen years. On the day the crime occurred, the father of the twins went for work and the mother went shopping, leaving the infants in the care of their grandmother. On returning home, the mother visited a private hospital in the city with both her infants. At the hospital the male baby was declared dead on arraival and the female baby was referred to another hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
