Man chased, attacked and killed a TASMAC bar owner who refused to supply alcohol on Mahavir Jayanthi.
Coimbatore: Sekar, (38), of Ratnapuri, Coimbatore, is the owner of TASMAC bar. The bar was closed during Mahavir Jayanti in 2014.
At that time, Vinodkumar (32), a labourer from Ratnapuri visited the bar as a customer and demanded alcohol. Sekar informed Vinodkumar that the bar was closed as it is Mahavir Jayanti liquor. Thus, liquor is not available anywhere.
This resulted in a war of words between the two. Vinodkumar, who was arguing with him, stated that he would not let him go till he gets the liquor that e wanted. As the bar owner refused the customer attacked him, chased and stabbed him with the knife he had. Sekar was injured in the attack and was admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.
Ratnapuri police registered a case of attempted to murder and arrested Vinodkumar. The accused is sentenced to 7 years in prison by a judge who heard the case.
