The indirect vote to elect the Deputy Chairman of the District Panchayat in Coimbatore began today at the Coimbatore District Collectorate. The AIADMK has 9 councillors, the DMK has 6 councillors and the BJP has 2 councillors.

DMK councillors complained that arrangements have not been made for the election are not conducted in free manner. DMK councillors have accused AIADMK lawyers of sitting near the polling booths and disturbing the freebies during the election. Six DMK councillors walked out of the polling booth.
