At the 48th Cosiema General Meeting Organised, SIDCO manufacturers put across their demands through resolutions.
Coimbatore: The 48th General Council meeting was held on Wednesday and resolutions were passed in the meeting.
In the general council meeting, SIDCO manufacturers requested that the Government considers the problems arising out due to the ongoing industrial crisis and requested to implement the schemes proactively.
They requested the Central and State Governments to keep tabs on the cost of raw materials and supply them to entrepreneurs at uniform prices. Requesting the government to actively help in establishing a state-by-state sector with representatives of major industry bodies, a Price Monitoring Committee were demanded as well.
The manufacturers requested for a skill development training to create skilled workforce and professional workers as the industrial sector, especially the Small and Medium Enterprises have faced a huge economic and workforce downfall due to the pandemic. The Central and State Governments are urged to provide skill development training.
They also requested to immediately provide funds allocated by the Government for the development of infrastructure facilities in SIDCO Industries. This will help them make industries world class and encourage the Central and State Governments to establish laboratories in collaboration with industrial organizations. The Central and State Governments are requested to install 100,200 kva transformers located in SIDCO to 500 kva transformers.
Furthermore, they urged the Central and State Governments to immediately reopen the existing defunct raw material depot at SIDCO and provide the necessary raw materials to the industries.
A multiplex industrial estate was requested to start micro industries, and accommodation for the workers working in the industries were demanded. They also demanded a permanent solution for the removal of garbage that is the accumulated in SIDCO and surrounding areas.
In a press release, it was stated, “We request the Central and State Governments to exempt industries from tax for one year due to the pandemic. The concessions provided for government and government aided industrial estates should be provided to private industries. We request you to immediately provide subsidy for the infrastructure facilities of the newly established private industrial estates and expedioustly bring the rail coach factory announced ten years ago to Coimbatore.”
The interest subsidy for loans issued by Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation limited which is 6% is due March 31st and a request was made to extend it indefinitely. They also requested to increase the Working Capital Loan in nationalised banks to 40%.
“As per the existing procedure, industries are subjected to many difficulties in the current GST system. The Committee calls for the change in this system and the procedure of banks to be compatible with the institutions. We request for payment to the users without any difficulties and unnecessary difficulties in obtaining subsidy,” read a press statement.
The central and state governments are requested to eliminate the presence of Chinese goods and to alleviate the shortage of imported raw materials and components. A harmonious situation for industries to operate domestic industries with international standards was requested.
