The police seized counterfeit currencies, armor, oxygen cylinders during an inspection at a house after they received a secret tipoff.
Coimbatore: The city police arrested six people in connection with duping to sell iridium device with ‘rice-pulling’ properties.
The Chettipalayam Police received a secret tip-off stating a gang had been giving demonstrations at a house in Othakalmandapam on Iridium worth crores to a group from Kerala. The police rushed to the spot and confiscated counterfeit currencies, armor, oxygen cylinders during the raid. Upon individual investigations from 8 people, it was revealed that the group was involved in Rice-Puller Scam with Iridium Devices.
Primary investigations revealed that the accused were Dineshkumar, Suriyakumar of Ranipettai, Bojaraj of Tirupur, Murugesan, Senthilkumar, Venkatesh Prabhu of Coimbatore. The group along with Saji of Kerala gather people through mediators who are in need of money for the Rice-Pulling Scam. The group duped Maharup, Abdul Kalam of Kerala stating they possessed 2-crore worth Iridium Rice-Puller. The gang swindled Rs 27 lakh in multiple instalments from them and also through demonstrations for the rice puller.
The group cheated the buyers by placing a bronze vessel inside a box and with some chili powder while showing demonstrations stating the rice puller has ‘magical powers’. In order to win the trust of the buyers, the fraudsters would wear the armor.
The police caught the gang and seized fake currencies notes worth Rs 99.20 lakh, two armored clothes, an oxygen cylinder and 2 cars from them. The police are also looking for Saji, who is absconding in the scam, by setting up two teams.
It is to be noted that the rice-puller scam is prevalent in rural pockets of the country. Gangs target the vulnerable and sell to them rice-pulling devices that are manufactured using copper iridium.
The gangs make claims that the devices reportedly can help rake lakhs of rupees. The gangs also dupe potential investors by informing that the metal device that have extraordinary properties.
