Coimbatore: A temple compound wall partially collapsed in the Ganapathy here, due to heavy rains. No casualties were reported in the disaster.
The Karupparayan Temple is located in Ganapathy in Coimbatore and the area is home to around 1,000 families. The locals erected a compound wall for the temple and have been worshipping the deity for the past thirty years.
The compound wall collapsed due to heavy rains that the district has been receiving in recent days.
The locals stated that, “We have been protecting and worshipping the Karupparayan temple for many years. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department should intervene and create a better temple for us. The compound wall that partially collapsed should be cleared and a new wall has to be built. Another part of the wall will collapse anytime.”
They have demanded that the corporation administration intervenes and take appropriate action.
