Tirupur: Rajendran, son of Marappan, is a resident of Nallikavundampalayam Chettypalayam, Kunnathur, Tirupur District.
He lives with his mother and father and is from the farming community. He has been looking for a girl to marry for the last several years. Rajendran told Chandran from Siruvalur, Erode district to look for a girl and he introduced himself to a female marriage broker named Ambika from Tirupur Fire Station. Ambika has introduced a female broker named Valliammal from Ariyalur to Rajendran.
Valliyammal told Rajendran that there is a bride named Reesa near his house and that his sister Thangam and Periyamma Devi have come to see Rajendran. Following this, Rajendran got engaged to Reesa on the 22nd of last month. Rajendran agreed to get married on the 24th as he was forced to get married immediately. Following this, Rajendran married Reesa on the morning of the 24th at the Pachampalayam Srisellandiamman Temple.
After the marriage, the marriage brokerage commission of Rs. 1 lakh 30 thousand was received by them. When Rajendran left the house on the 25th, Reesa fled in a car with jewellery given by Rajendran. Police arrested five people yesterday. Police are also investigating whether they were involved in similar scams elsewhere.
