MGNREGA workers stung by honey bees. Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj visited them in hospital.
Tirupur: In an unfortunate incident, 20 who are employed under The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA) scheme were injured seriously as honey bees stung them. Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister visited them in hospital.
The workers who were at work in Manakkadavu region next to Dharapuram in Tirupur were stung by poisonous honey bees. Twenty people including Mariyammal, Azhagumuthu, Marudayi were attacked. Several victims suffered dizziness, vomiting, swelling of eyes, nose, and a black-out.

They were rushed to the Dharapuram government hospital where they were provided first aid.

The Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj visited the victims in person and consoled them. She met Chief Doctor Sivabalan and advised that the admitted workers are treated for their injuries on priority basis.
