Tirupur: An emergency consultation meeting of the South Indian Cardboard Box Manufacturers Association was held at a private hotel on Avinashi Road, Tirupur.
This said there will be a 20 per cent increase in the price of cardboard due to the rising cost of raw materials needed to make cardboard boxes, including paper.
They also demanded the cooperation of exporters and knitwear companies and that the central government should take action to protect the livelihoods of cardboard box manufacturers as the 12 per cent GST on goods including paper has now been raised to 18 per cent.
