The Mineral Resource Department on the orders of the District Collector Sameeran carried out an inspection of brick kilns and of these, 11 brick kilns operating in Mavuthampathy without permission were identified and sealed.
Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, 11 brick kilns were sealed at night for operating in violation of a court order against the operation of brick kilns.
Brick kilns operating in Coimbatore district have been banned. There were complaints that some brick kilns were operating by taking soil in vehicles at night without permission. The inspection was carried out by the Minerals Department on the orders of the Coimbatore District Collector. Of these, 11 brick kilns operating in Mavuthampathy without permission were found and sealed.
District Assistant Director of Minerals Ramesh said, "170 brick kilns operating in the Coimbatore Thadagam area have been closed by court order. 11 brick kilns operating illegally in Mavuthampathy have been closed and sealed."
