Diwakar, (55) of Marisetty Street of Alandurai lives with his wife Preetha. He is a dressmaker and runs his tailoring unit near the Poluvampatti bus stop. Diwakar was unable to pay his shop rent for the past two months as he received fewer orders this Diwali season.
A grief-stricken Diwakar lamented to his wife of the condition. Last afternoon, Diwakar locked himself inside his shop and hanged himself to death. Preetha filed a complaint with the Alandurai Police. The Police recovered the body and sent it for post mortem. A case has been registered under section 174 and investigations are underway.
