The Students Federation of India demands that the Tamil Nadu Government draws a unique education policy and does not accept the National education Policy introduced by the centre.
Coimbatore: The Students Federation Of India (SFI), stated that there will be a nationwide protest staged on 27th demanding the cancellation of NEET in Tamil Nadu. As part of the nation-wide protest, a demonstration at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai on 27th October will be staged.
Talking to the press, the spokesperson from SFI informed that about 22 students have died due to fear of NEET and yet the center’s educational attack continues. Speaking of the bill introduced by the Tamil Nadu Government seeking a ban on NEET in the state, they said that the bill is yet to be approved by the Governor, the motive remaining unknown. The resolution was passed during the last regime but is not yet sanctioned. The SFI urged cancelling NEET in Tamil Nadu as according to them it collapses the structure of medical education in the state and students are denied of opportunities.
The Central Committee of the Students Federation of India will hold a protest across the nation on October 27th to press this demand. A protest will be staged outside the Governor’s residence in Chennai. SFI strongly condemns the national educational policy of the Central Government.
They added, “A sum of Rs.200 crore was allocated for providing education at home under ‘People education’ and that the schools will commence on November. This National Policy shall not be accepted. The Tamil Nadu Government should formulate a unique education policy for the state and shall not accept the National Education Policy of the central government.”
SFI highlighted that professors are not appointed to government colleges, though they’ve begun and that there is just one professor in every department so far in the 10 colleges that were started in the last regime and the situation continues.As many as 7,000 teachers in 153 government colleges had not been appointed for the past six years and insisted that the government protects government educational institutions. They said that they shall not allow the implementation of the National Education Policy under a different name.
