Petition to transfer physician from primary health care on Crosscut road in Coimbatore

DMK councillor submitted a petition to the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner to appoint a new doctor at the primary health care on Crosscut road stating that the current person is pays attention to his private clinic alone.

Coimbatore: DMK Councillor Meena Logu submitted a petition to the Corporation Commissioner demanding a change of physician at the primary health care (PHC) on Crosscut road.

It is alleged that the doctor who is appointed at the PHC is not present at the hospital. Instead, he attends to patients at his private clinic and this could be one of the reasons for a drop in number of expecting mothers visiting the hospital.

The petition read, 'The CDM Home Maternity Hospital near #8 Vegetable Market, in Coimbatore Corporation Central Zone, Crosscut Road has been functioning for many years. The hospital is staffed by women doctors and nurses.'

“Over 100 deliveries (child births) were performed every month at the hospital. However, the number of pregnant mothers visiting for a consultation has drastically reduced due to poor treatment offered at the hospital. The doctor, Jeevanandam concentrates on his private hospital. The primary health care is located in the main area of the city and has been serving the poor. Hence, we kindly request you to transfer the male doctor and appoint a skilled female doctor to serve the hospital,” the petition read.
