The accused tried to flee after snatching a gold chain from a kid, was reportedly stopped by the alert public. Thief produced to police officers.
Coimbatore: An unidentified person attempted to snatch a chain from a two-year old boy, was nabbed, beaten black and blue and produced to the police in Coimbatore.
Ramprakash is from Vetrivel Nagar near Peelamedu. He, along with his wife and two-year old son were waiting for a bus at the SITRA Bus Stop on Avinashi Road. Out of nowhere, an anonymous person tried to flee after taking the two sovereign gold chain that the boy was wearing.
Ramprakash raised an alarm, an alert public nabbed the thief, and bashed him black and blue. The thief was then handed over to the police. Investigations revealed that the accused is Duraisamy, (57) from Nilgiris, a driver by profession.
An injured Duraisamy is undergoing treatment at the Government hospital, here. A case of chain snatching is registered against Duraisamy and cases are registered against five people who physically assaulted the accused. The police is investigating.
