As many as 800 field workers deployed to contain dengue fever in Coimbatore

We are in the midst of the rainy season when water-borne and mosquito-borne disease are rife. Against this backdrop, as many as 800 field workers are deployed by the Coimbatore Corporation to prevent dengue fever in the city.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has deployed 800 field workers in 100 wards of the five zones to check the spread of diseases including dengue fever and Zika caused by mosquitoes breeding in rainwater.

A corporation official said, "It has been raining heavily in Coimbatore for the last few days. As a precautionary measure, 800 personnel are deployed to check rainwater stagnation around homes and buildings in a bid to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. Preventing the breeding of mosquitoes can control the spread of mosquito-borne and water-borne diseases like dengue fever and Zika."
