Coimbatore: The sewerage system in the Anna Nagar West Housing Unit area under the Ward 19 of the Coimbatore Corporation West Zone has not been cleaned for a long time. Thus, there is a risk of spread of diseases.
Public in the area echoed the opinion stating, "There are more than a hundred apartments in the Anna Nagar West housing unit area. The sewers in the area have not been cleaned for a long time. Therefore, the sewage stagnates in the area. As we are in the rainy season, the sewer is overflowing and the sewage is mixed with rain water and stagnates on the road. This is causing a stench and has caused health issues. This is becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes and there is a risk of spreading diseases like dengue fever. A permanent solution must be found. Therefore, action should be taken to discharge sewage with sewage pumping equipment."
