Sivaram came home drunk and fell asleep in his room at home. He left his cell phone to charge on the bed and fell asleep. Suddenly at midnight the cell phone overheated and caught fire. Sivaram suffered burn injuries. He succumbed to injuries yesterday. Madukkarai police station are investigating
Coimbatore: Myilsamy (57) is from Gandhinagar area next to Madukkarai in Coimbatore and is a labourer. His son Sivaram (18) was a first year BSc. Information Technology student at a private college here.

The bed on which Sivaram was sleeping also caught fire. Sivaram was drunk so he could not feel the heat. The fire spread quickly and Sivaram's clothes and bed were engulfed in the fire. The teenagers body caught fire before he woke up.
The family heard his screams and tried to put out the fire. But Sivaram suffered severe burns all over his body. He was rushed to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. Sivaram died yesterday succumbing to injuries. His father Myilsami lodged a complaint at the Madukkarai police station. Police have registered a case and are investigating the complaint.
