As per the orders of District SP, the city police have been conducting patrols and searches to nab those who sell banned narcotic substances under the Drive Against Drug initiative.
Coimbatore: Two people were arrested by the rural police in Coimbatore for selling banned narcotic substances. A vehicle and 5-kg of ganja is confiscated from the duo.
S. Sundar, (30) and P. Malaisamy, (36) of Sulur were arrested and the police has confiscated 5-kg of ganja and a two-wheeler from them. The duo is in judicial custody.
To crack the whip on drug peddlers, curb sale of illegal banned drugs and thereby bring down the drug related crimes in the city, the District Superintendent of Police, Selvanagarathinam, introduced the Drive Against Drug (DAD) initiative. This has left the city police on their toes who is constantly patrolling and conducting raids throughout the city. The SP has cautioned that those found guilty in related cases will face serious consequences.
