Vadivelu who lived in the area allegedly got into an argument with Kandasamy and his son Sivakumar over the laying of the drinking water pipe.
Coimbatore: A drinking water pipe was laid on behalf of the Arasampalayam Panchayat near Kandasamy's house near Arasampalayam Mahaliamman Kovil Road near Kinathukadavu, in Coimbatore district. Vadivelu who lived in the same area at that time allegedly got into an argument with Kandasamy and his son Sivakumar over the laying of the drinking water pipe.
Later, five people including Vadivelu attacked Kandasamy and abused him, and also ended up attacking those who went to stop him. Kandasamy, Sivagami, Patteeswaran and Velleeswari have been admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital and are receiving medical treatment.
Vadivelu and his brother-in-law have been charged with assaulting four persons including Kandasamy, following a complaint lodged by Kandasamy's son Sivakumar at the Kinathukadavu police station. Vadivelu was arrested and is in custody at the court, while the other four are in hiding.
