All Women Police Station West takes action against a youth under POCSO for marrying a 16-year-old girl.
Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, women police have been working hard to prevent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases and arrests are made for crimes committed against women and girls.
In one incident a 21-year-old youth secretly married a 16-year-old girl in Coimbatore. The marriage took place three months ago. However, the couple was nabbed and the youth was arrested under POCSO and is put behind bars.
Jayakumar, is a resident of Sungam, and his son Satish Kumar, (21), studied up to class IX who worked as a painter in the area. He fell in love with a girl who had finished class X. The girl is from the same area and was employed in a private company.
The youth separated the girl from her family three months ago and secretly married her in Pachampalayam area of Coimbatore. The couple started living as a family.
The girl's parents had complained about this. Following this the Coimbatore All Women Police Station West police nabbed the couple. The teenage girl was being interrogated by the police at the station last evening. When the Ayutha Puja celebration was going on the minor girl escaped from the police station.
A search was launched for the couple. They were nabbed by the police team led by Inspector Usha this morning. The youth Satish Kumar was charged and arrested under the POCSO Act. The girl was sent to a women's home in Coimbatore. This incident has caused a stir in the police station.
