With shops, buses and many other places functional throughout the week and on weekends, a demand is placed to lift the restrictions on opening Temples during the weekend.
Coimbatore: A demonstration wasrecently staged before the South Taluk office in Coimbatore on behalf of the Sakthi Siva Sena Hindu Makkal Iyakkam.
The peaceful protest was headed by State Vice President, known as Bullet Raja Shekhar of the Hindu Makkal Iyakkam. State General Secretary Prem Kumar led the protest in which more than 100 people participated. President Sri Anbumani also participated as a special invitee and addressed the gathering.
“Despite the Section 144 implemented in Tamil Nadu, essential shops function as an exception, and restaurants, buses, and many other places are open to the public. It is saddening that the temples are closed to devotees in Tamil Nadu during the weekends. The protestors echoed the opinion that the temples have the powers to battle Covid. The group reiterated that divine power plays a bigger role than technology.”
The protestors urged the government to lift the restriction on the Hindu places of worship, during the weekends, at the earliest and permit the performing of special prayers to fight the covid pandemic.
