Due to low pressure and heat wave, many TN districts are likely to receive heavy rains till October 17.
Coimbatore: The Chennai Meteorological Center has forecast heavy rains in more than 20 districts in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore and the Nilgiris.
The Chennai Meteorological Center Director, Puviarasan stated in a press release, "Due to low pressure and heat wave, many districts are likely to receive heavy rains till October 17. The Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts will receive heavy rainfall on Thursday. Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Kadalur, Salem, Erode and Tiruvallur districts will also receive heavy rains.
The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul districts will receive heavy rains on Friday as well. Kanyakumari, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts will receive heavy rains with thunder and lightning. On October 17, Chennai and surrounding districts will receive heavy rains."
Puviarasan further added that in the central eastern Bay of Bengal, a new depression is likely to form and will move in a north-westerly direction and head towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Friday.
