This ‘Deepavali season, thieves’ snatched the two-and-a-half- sovereign gold chain from an elderly woman on a crowded bus
Coimbatore: The city police are on the lookout for the thieves who snatched a gold chain from an elderly woman in a crowded bus.
Aandal, (70), of Ramanujam Nagar Peelamedu, lives with her husband Marudhachalam. Aandal who wanted to reach her destination Telungupalayam Pudhur boarded a bus at Hopes College bus stop.
The bus was packed to capacity and taking advantage of it, an anonymous man snatched the two-and a half-sovereign chain from Aandal. The victim was shocked to find her chain missing after she got down from the bus at Ukkadam. A complaint was lodged with the police.
The police have registered a case and are looking for miscreants who become active during the Diwali festival season.
