On behalf of the Kovai Dusshera group, the Dusshera celebrations commenced last week at the Nallampalayam Mutharamman temple
Coimbatore: As part of the famous Dusshera Celebrations at the Mutharamman Temple in Coimbatore devotees dress up as Kali, Shiva, Parvathy, Brahma, which is a feast for the eyes.
The Dussehra festival celebration is a renowned celebration observed at the Mutharamman Temple in Kulasekarapattinam in Thiruchendur. The event which draws hundreds of devotees every year will be celebrated in a low-key manner this year, due to the pandemic.
A similar celebration commenced last week at the Mutharamman Temple in Nallampalayam, Coimbatore, with flag hoisting.
The celebrations, happening for the 22nd consecutive year had devotees dressed up as Kali, Parvathy, Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, Rama, Hanuman, and other Hindu deities.
The devotees give their offerings to Mutharamman guised as deities this year as well.
The devotees performed Karagattam, Oyilattam that attracted many to the temple. Special abhishekams (anointing), pujas, deeparadhanas were held and the deity was decorated using various accessories on each day.
Nallampalayam Mutharamman Temple administrators Lingadurai, Palsamy, Rajkumar, Manivannan, Sivasamy, Chellappa, and Anandaraj were present during the occasion.
