BJP candidate gets single vote in rural local body elections in Kurudampalayam; criticized as he is the only person who possibly voted for himself

The netizens trolled the BJP candidate as his family members did not vote for him, while as per the results DMK candidate wins the seat with maximum votes.


Coimbatore: The rural local body elections were conducted in two phases and the vote-counting is underway today. The BJP candidate who contested in Kurudampalayam panchayat received only one vote, which gained varied criticism.

The election vote counting began on the 12th of this month and the Periyanayakkanpalayam Panchayat Union, Kurudampalayam Panchayat ward 9 election results were awaited. The total votes cast were 913 out of 1,551 votes. Out of these, the DMK contestant Arulraj received 387 votes, the Independent candidate Jeyaraj collected 240 votes, Vaithilingam of AIADMK finished with 196 votes, another independent contestant, Kandesh ended with 84 votes. DMDK candidate Ravikumar got 2 votes and another three were declared invalid.

Karthik, Deputy Chairman BJP Youth wing received only a single vote, which came as a shock to many. As this news was made official Karthik, was not spared. He is being criticized by the netizens and the other political parties. Karthik’s family consists has 6 members including him. Ironically, none from his family voted in favour of Karthik, as per the results. Analysing the results, it can be concluded that the only person who voted for Karthik is Karthik himself.

Victory is for DMK Candidate Arulraj, symbolically suggesting that the sun never sets on the DMK empire.
