A tiger cub that had been injured by a hedgehog was being treated in a large cage in a dense forest in Manampalli.
Coimbatore: The tiger cub which was found injured by a hedgehog in the Mudis area near Valparai in Coimbatore district 13 days ago had been undergoing treatment by the Forest Department at the Human-Wildlife Conflict Prevention and Treatment Center in the Rotikkadai area.
The 8-month old male tiger cub was being treated by a team led by a wildlife doctor and a professor at the Kalakattu Mundan Department Tiger Reserve in Tirunelveli. The thorns of the hedgehog had been removed from the tiger cub’s body, and medicines and meat were given to improve its health. The Forest Department officials had said that the tiger seemed depressed in a small cage and needs to be treated in a large cage.
