Mahendran who contested under the 'key' symbol received 112 votes, beating Maheshkumar who received 94 votes.
Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Kinathukadavu Panchayat Union No.10 Muthur Panchayat Council 2nd Ward Member election was held on October 9.
At 8 am, the counting of votes began in the presence of the candidates, led by the Election Officer Ganesan. The 288 votes cast during this election were counted on Tuesday at the counting center set up at the Kinathukadavu Panchayat Union office.
At the end of the three-and-a-half-hour of counting votes, Mahendran who contested under the 'key' symbol was declared the winner with 112 votes. Nadarajan who contested under the 'comb' symbol received 49 votes, Maheshkumar who contested on the 'cot' symbol received 94 votes and Pappusamy who contested on the 'car' symbol received 32 votes, one of which was declared invalid.
The Election Officer, Ganesan then handed over the certificate of victory to Mahendran.
