National Wildlife Week Celebrations come to an end in Coimbatore

Closing ceremony and felicitations were held at the Forest Office in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: The 67th National Wildlife Week ended on 8th October. Felicitation and closing Ceremonies were held at the Forest Office (Check) in Coimbatore.

TheNational Wildlife Week is observed from 2nd to 8th October in India annually to celebrate and protect the flora and fauna. This year, the 67th national wildlife week was celebrated under the theme, ‘Forests And Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planets’. Various competitions and programs were held in Coimbatore as part of the wildlife week. Today, the wildlife week ended and the winners of the contests conducted were felicitated in the ending ceremony.

The closing ceremony was held at the Tamilnadu High Forest – check-Training Institute Centenary Hall. Minister of Forests tamil Nadu, K.Ramachandran delivered the Presidential Address and awarded prizes to the students. Chief Conservator of Forests and Director, Tamil Nadu High Forest Training Institute, Coimbatore, T.V.Manjunatha IFS addressed the gathering with welcome speech. Following that, District Collector Sameeran addressed the gathering.



Dr. Shekhar Kumar Neeraj, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Keeper gave the descriptive address. Coimbatore MP, P.R.Nnatarajan, Pollachi MP, K.Shanmugasundaram, , Amman K.Arjunan, MLA Coimbatore North, PrincipalChief Conservator of Forests and Chairman, Government Rubber Association, Syed Mujammil Abbas, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Research and Education) S.Yuvraj, IFS, and Tamil Nadu Forest Plantation Corporation Limited, Yogesh Dwivedi, IFSgave the felicitation address

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Department) Ashk Upareti IFS presided over the function gave the presidential address. Forest officials, all level workers, students, public participated in the event.



As part of this, the Symbol (MASCOT) of Coimbatore Forest Division wasreleased by the Hon’ble Minister of Forests and felicitated thestudents who won the State Level Painting and Symbol (Logo) Competitions. This was followed by awareness drama, dance performance by the Irular Adivasi people and elephant awareness song.

The closing day of Wildlife Week was celebrated with contempt. At the end of the function, Coimbatore District Forest Officer, T.K. Ashok Kumar, IFS proposed the vote of thanks and ended with National Anthem
