Pollachi: The folk artists in Pollachi set a world record by playing 'Udukkai' and 'Pambai' for 8 hours continuously. The record was marked in the Nobel World Record Book. It was attended and monitored by Nobel World Record Book editor Thiyagu Nagarajan.
26 folk artists, with an intent to revive their endangered art form, played Pambai and Udukkai, dressed up as Shiva, Parvathy, and Karuppasami. With Navratri beginning, the artists took the platform to revive folk art. They played these instruments from 9 am to 5 pm, without break.
