Coimbatore: Physically Challeneged man in Coimbatore seeks help from the Tamil Nadu government to get a free house, as he is finally helpless to provide a rent of ₹2000
Velmurugan, a physically challenged man from Podanur, owns a small shop in the area. Due to the pandemic, Velmurugan had been struggling to provide the rent amount of ₹2000.
Velmurugan lamented that he had submitted various petition to the district collector in demand of a free house. He stated that he could not get the house from the Slum Clearance Board and the Tamil Nadu Housing board, and has been facing struggles as he is unable to pay an amount of one lakh rupees to receive the house approved by the Tahsildar. He had now raised a request to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the provision of a rent-free house.
Velmurugan handed over a petition to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development Department, S. Muthusamy who studied the damaged housing board apartments in Singanallur area. The minister stated that a house shall be provided to Velmurugan in Sulur Government quarters area.
Velmurugan stated that most physically-challenged people suffer due to lack of house, or lack of money to provide for the houses they receive. He requested that the Chief Minister consider the issue and take necessary action to help people like him. The Housing and Urban DevelopmentMinister Muthusamy said that even after getting the government's free house, he would take the issue to the Chief Minister and take steps to provide free housing to the differently abled persons who are financially downtrodden.
