Coimbatore: Udhagamandalam Mountain train was directed back to the railway station as there were landslides due to heavy rains, which highly upset the tourists.
Incessant rains in Coimbatore and Nilgiris had led to landslides in Mettupalayam to Hill grove regions. The tracks have been covered with huge rocks due to the landslide in Hill Grove. A mountain train, with 180 passengers that left from Mettupalayam this morning at 7.10 am was directed back to Kallaru Railway station as the tracks were completely blocked. An alert loco pilot stopped the train immediately. The railway officials ordered to reverse the train, which disappointed the passengers.
Railway employees are continuing to repair the site of the landslide. Railway sources said the hill rail traffic would be canceled till the renovation work is completed
