The Sub-Inspector Murugan who was on a medical leave and engaged in cheque fraud was identified as the 6th accused in a case involving the Punjab National Bank in Purasaiwakkam, Chennai.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Freight DIG, Muthusamy has ordered the suspension of Sub-Inspector, Murugan for cheque fraud.
Murugan who was working as a Sub-Inspector at Thondamuttur police station in Coimbatore district was booked at the G3 Kilpauk police station in Chennai on September 22 for cheque fraud. A complaint was filed by Amit Kumar, the Branch Manager at Purasaiwakkam's Punjab National Bank, Chennai against Sub-Inspector Murugan for cheque fraud. Murugan was arrested as the 6th accused in the cheque fraud case and currently in judicial custody.
The Sub-Inspector was on medical leave during the period of the cheque fraud being committed. As per the orders of the Coimbatore Freight DIG, Muthusamy, a Departmental disciplinary action has been initiated against Sub-Inspector Murugan and he was suspended on Friday.
Public are delighted that disciplinary action is being taken against police officials in Coimbatore district who violate the law. It may be recalled that this past week, Inspector Kalaiarasi was suspended for favouring fraudulent financial institutions as opposed to victims who had lodged complaints with her.
