Coimbatore: The National Wildlife Week, 2021 was celebrated at the Bharathiar University in Coimbatore.
The Department of Zoology and Nature Club of Bharathiar University in association with Life Trust India celebrated the Wildlife Week by hosting an online webinar on Friday.
About 100 students from various departments and other colleges evinced interest and participated actively in the webinar.
The webinar was presided by the Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, Dr. P Kaliraj and Dr. K Murugavel, Registrar, Bharathiar University.
Dr. M Ramesh, Professor and Head, Department of Zoology welcomed the gathering while Dr. C Gunasekaran, Faculty Advisor, Nature Club,highlighted the importance of Wildlife Week celebrations.
Dr. B A Daniel, Research Director, Life Trust India was the Chief Guest at the event. Prof. Dr. P Kaliraj, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University spoke on the need for conservation of wildlife and also highlighted the role of students in conservation of nature as an inevitable one.
Dr. B A Daniel drew attention to animal welfare and wildlife conservation and stressed the sustenance of people and the planet as the need of the hour which was effective in creating awareness among students.
