In Pollachi, a thief was caught by the police with the help of Fire Department officials as he hid in the sewer to escape from the police on night patrol.
Coimbatore: On their usual patrol beat on Pollachi Raja Mill Road, the West Zone police spotted a passer-by who quickly hid in a drain on seeing the police patrolling. The police became suspicious and ordered him to come out of the drain.
It is reported that the man began to sneak deeper into the sewer. Suspicious of his behaviour, the police informed the Fire Department who rescued the man in the sewer. Later, the police identified the man as Hakeem from Suleswaranpatti who had been involved in several robberies. It was also discovered that Hakeem had stolen a cell phone from Pradesh and hid inside the drain when he saw the police on patrol that night. The police have arrested Hakeem and are investigating.
