The Corporation Commissioner had issued orders to round up the cattle and impose penalties on cattle owners who allow their cattle free rein on Coimbatore's roads.
Coimbatore: Cattle roaming in the Ukkadam area posing road hazards were captured and enclosed in VOC Park, Coimbatore. 7 cows which included 2 calves were captured.
With cattle owners paying little heed to the CCMC Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara's orders that any cattle being a menace on roads will be captured and fines slapped on their owners, VOC Park Director, Dr. Senthilnathan led a team that roped in the cows from Ukkadam, Pullukadu and Kuniyamuthur areas.
Dr. Senthilnathan stated, "7 cows including 2 calves have been caught roaming on the roads, disrupting traffic. Fines up to ₹.5000 will be imposed based on the age of the cattle age and severe action will be taken on the owners who allow the animals free rein on the roads continuously."
