Tourists banned from bathing in Aliyar Falls near Pollachi due to flash floods

Forest officials evacuated tourists from the Aliyar waterfall area as there was heavy flow of water while tourists were bathing.


Coimbatore: Aliyar Falls which is under the control of the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve is a huge tourist attraction to not only locals but also foreigners.

Due to the continuous heavy rains in and around Valparai, in the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve area, there was a sudden heavy flow of water while tourists were bathing.

Forest officials immediately evacuated tourists from the waterfall area.



Shortly after the evacuation, there was a sudden flood in the waterfall area. According to the Forest Department, the waterfall has been flooded due to continuous heavy rains in Coimbatore district. Officials stated that the ban on bathing in the falls was for the safety of tourists.
