BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan briefs media after submitting petitions to Coimbatore District Collector

Addressing the media, Vanathi Srinivasan stated that the imposition of 144 in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri was the reason why Priyanka Gandhi was not allowed to visit farmers.

Coimbatore: BJP's Coimbatore South MLA and National Women’s Wing President, Vanathi Srinivasan submitted petitions to the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran on behalf of the people in South Zone.

She addressed reporters after submitting the petitions.

Vanathi Srinivasan submitted petitions to the District Collector regarding action pertaining to previous petitions and also a set of new demands.

She briefed the media stating that requests were placed regarding everyday operation of ration shops in the Puliyakulam area, steps to provide elderly allowance that has been on hold for the past four months, and maintenance and renovation of Anganwadi centres in the South Zone.

“Pay was hiked for workers under the 100-day employment scheme by the BJP government as soon as they assumed office. Similarly, steps were taken to debit the salaries directly into their accounts. The farmers should work alongside the Government and schemes cannot be considered useless because the Union Government will look forward to making the schemes better," stated Vanathi Srinivasan.

Vanathi Srinivasan explained to the media that Priyanka Gandhi was arrested because she tried to visit Lakhimpur Kheri despite the imposition of 144 in the area. “The UP government will take necessary steps to punish the trouble-makers and there shall be no bias in that. The Government is responsible for maintaining law and order in the place and also it is the UP government’s responsibility to consider the situation. Congress party members are trying to revive their party’s life by making use of the incident,” she added.
