BJP Tamil Nadu leader Annamalai said the BJP will not interfere in the decision taken to develop their party. Public support for the BJP in the local body elections has been high and this time it has fielded good candidates in all the constituencies.
Tirupur: As the 118th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Tirupur Kumaran was celebrated Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai Kumaran paid homage to the statue at the Tirupur Kumaran memorial near the Tirupur railway station.
Speaking to reporters later, Annamalai said, "Todayis Tirupur Kumaran's 118th birthday and we are paying floral tributes at his memorial. Tirupur Kumaran has risen holding the national flag in the incident that took place here. His sacrifice is one of the greatest inspirations for today's youth."
When asked about PMK standing alone in the local elections he said it is a personal decision of their party.
He said, "The BJP will not interfere in the decision taken to develop their party. Public support for the BJP in the local body elections has been high and this time it has fielded good candidates in all the constituencies. Women in particular have been given a greater opportunity. Even though the DMK is the ruling party, the mood of the people is changeable. We are confident that people will give us their support. Earlier, when BJP state president Annamalai came to pay homage to the statue of Tirupur Kumaran, the BJP hid portraits of the chief minister and former chief minister at the state function."
