Students warned of serious consequences if caught ragging fellow students.
Coimbatore: The Kinathukadavu Police held an awareness programme on anti-ragging at the Akshaya Engineering College in Kinathukadavu.
Several students who are into their first year of study at the college took part in the programme.
Addressing the students, the Sub-Inspector of Kinathukadavu Police, Arul Prakash stated, “The students were most affected in the past two years due to the pandemic, but the decrease in number of fresh Covid-19 cases has allowed the reopening of colleges for first-year students. Students who rag first-year students shall face serious consequences. The victims of ragging can approach the police stations in this regard and necessary action will be taken.”
The police officials felt that students might get psychologically affected if ragged, which could cause stress for their parents.
The anti-ragging awareness program was also attended by Chief Constable Suresh, college professors and teachers.
