Coimbatore: The Congress party today staged a protest in front of the Pollachi headquarters, led by South district head Bhagwati, on behalf of the Coimbatore South District Congress Committee, condemning the protesting farmers by a Minister's son's SUV in Uttar Pradesh and the forcible arrest of Priyanka Gandhi who visited the scene.
The protesters chanted slogans against the central government condemning the killing of farmers during the protests in Uttar Pradesh and the arrest of Priyanka Gandhi.
Farmers across the country have been staging protests against the central government. As a result of non-withdrawal of agricultural laws 2 farmers have been killed by the Union Home Minister who was in a vehicle. Nine people have been killed in Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka Gandhi has been arrested for trying to console farmers. The protestors said the Congress party strongly condemns these incidents and has warned that protests will continue against the central government for cheating farmers.
